I am new to your forum, and I live in Normandy France.
My Partner and I are making plans to renovate a new home that will include two ground floor Guest Rooms.
We are keen design them to suit the needs of both able and disabled guests - wheel chair users, mobility problems.
I have thought about it for a while, knowing first hand that my Mum and Dad had difficulties finding suitable accommodation during the years leading up to their hip replacements. My Mum also had trouble with arthritus which caused problems with grip and balance, and stairs were a nightmare. She is now in the early stages of Parkinsons, so balance really is a problem for her now.
Firstly I am located in the Coutances area of Manche so visitors to the area will be aware of what accommodation is available at present, or the lack of it!
If anyone would like to assist us in our planning, I would be very grateful for any information and ideas you could offer with regards to problems you have perhaps faced when staying in guest houses, and what suggestions you have for your desired facilities.
What would you need in the bathroom for example that has been lacking at other places; suggestions for improvements with the design of rooms that you have previously stayed in.
Simple things like the design of a kettle even, to suit arthristus suffers who cannot grip.
We want to get the design right so that our guests have a relaxing stay with us, with everything that they need to make their stay easy, stress free, and memorable.
Thank you so much, I really do appreciate you taking the time to read this, and hope we can accumalate some good ideas and feedback!
