It could only happen to me

On Friday I left my office at 17.00, I had quarter of a tank of petrol. I came home, took my wife and daughter food shopping before planning on filling up with petrol.

Our drive slopes down to our house so when I get into our car I find it easier to get seated in my car with my left leg fully in the car, then use my hand controls to drive to the top of the drive where it is level and easy to pull my right leg in and shut the door.

On Friday, after getting the shopping, I reversed into my drive, across the front of my house, and then pulled forward so the shopping could be taken out of the back of my car, straight indoors.

Whilst unloading my car, the engine died on me. On closer inspection my petrol gauge was reading empty the way the car leaned over sideways. After emptying the car I rolled the car back across the front room, in the hope that the ground being more level that the petrol would get through. The car still would not start.

Our local garage was shut for refurbishment. We have an elderly lady one side of us, a young lady the other side, whose car is off the road and an elderly gentleman across the road who has just sold his car as he was not using it enough.

After 10 minutes of trying to start my car I called the RAC. I waited inside my car for the RAC as it would be too awkward to get back in my car with no fuel. My son bought my fish fingers, chips and beans out to me, so I could eat in my car.

I phoned my wife after she pulled the curtains to ask her to open them again, so I could watch the TV through the front room window.

I eventually got my car filled with fuel and got warmed up indoors at 21.00.

What a walley!!!

Les
