Yoga Changed My Life
Many of us may have wondered what Seva Yoga is. Isn't it? Well what Seva Yoga really is? It consists of two words Seva meaning service and Yoga meaning union of the body and mind. So in short Seva Yoga means service for unity. Placing Yoga for the service is the real intention of Seva Yoga. Widen the access of the healing and nourishing benefit of Yoga in our day to day life.
I am a Yoga instructor. I first had my Yoga experience as a student. Amanda Tanner was my Yoga Guru. She is a highly trained professional Yoga Trainer. In the beginning the poses and the Sanskrit words that were used were a bit boring and difficult. Sitting upright with cross legged position was funny. Carrying my yoga mat, my clothes were a bit funny.
Heaven know how I actually managed all this. Friends used to laugh at me. I used to regret and mock myself saying, what the hell I am doing here.
Amanda used to scream 'Take a deep breath in and then out, in and out'. This used to drive me nuts. My trainer used to really irritate us by making us warm-up and then with the routine exercises. She used take daily 3 hours of strict exercise. At first stretching and pulling exercises a bit difficult. Then as we got used to it our body was more flexible than before.
We practiced alternate nostril breathing and shavasan as warm up exercises. As the level increased we were put into more complex asanas. As days passed by I actually started enjoying my yoga sessions. I would practice Yoga at home too. Even my younger sister, Juliana, would join me. We had a good time together.
As days passed by I actually started getting more and more into Yoga. There was a deep resonance within me. As I continued practicing and studying Yoga, I actually had started finding a deep connection with my inner self. I could feel that I am breathing and sensed the truth that we all are here for a purpose. It is our choice whether to listen to our inner voice or not. There is difficulties faced by all of us, but life is beautiful and one has to move on.
I then decided to make a career in Yoga. Asked my guru for blessings and then moved off to complete my graduation in Yoga Therapy. Just a month after completing my course a very big opportunity fell into my hands. I was invited by my own batch mate, Kevin, to conduct a Yoga workshop in our locality. I responded with a big YES. I was so excited that I was on Cloud 11, not even Cloud 9. Packed all my belongings with two full bags. Still remember that day so vividly.
As the big day arrived Kevin and I set off to Toronto on a 4 day Yoga workshop. It was conducted by the Feathered Pipe team. The Feathered Pipe consisted of all highly professionally trained instructors. We were mere newbie's there. But still we decided that nothing will stop us from conducting the workshop as planned. Believe me the workshop was a success!! The response was overwhelming. The people who attended literally did not leave us even after the workshop. They took our contacts and even added us on Twitter and Facebook. Kevin and I were just numb seeing the response.
After returning back home I decided to start my own Yoga Workshop. My guru was touched seeing me do all this because I was the naughtiest student in her class. I still remember how I used to laugh at her and now my students might be laughing at me. But the joy and happiness I get cannot be put into words. I advise all of you to try Yoga Therapy at least once in your life.
