Get the Most Out of Your Mobility Scooter With These Five Great Accessories!
For mobility-impaired people, mobility scooters are excellent personal aids, allowing them to enjoy a quality of life and a diversity of activity far better than what they would otherwise. However, there are many other products designed to enhance your user experience while riding your scooter that you may not have considered purchasing. If you are highly dependent on your mobility scooter for day to day living, some of these add-ons can help you out quite a bit. Here are the five most popular scooter accessories we carry, and just a little bit of information on how they can help you out while you're on the go!
Additional Storage: Most of our mobility scooters include a cargo basket which is mounted on the front of the scooter's steering column or tiller bar. However, you may wish to have something more private and secure for carrying valuables - nothing's worse than hitting a bump, losing something in your basket, and not being able to pick it up. Armrest bags are the most convenient type of storage - they attach using velcro or pull straps and have zippered pockets. Seatback bags are very similar, but generally have more carrying capacity than an armrest bag. And for the most discrete storage method available, consider purchasing an underseat storage container. In the event you are accosted by a mugger, placing your most prized valuables in an underseat container may cause you to leave such an encounter having lost far less than you would if you were carrying a wallet, cell phone, or jewelry in a visible bag or basket.
Canopies: Rain, wind, dust, direct sunlight - all sorts of pollutants can ruin your day while you're on a mobility scooter if weather conditions are extreme. Canopies mount to the side of your scooter and are available in a variety of configurations. Most are zippered to allow you some customization on the fly, and many scooter canopies are also vented to allow for a breeze while still protecting you if a storm cloud bursts overhead while you're out for a ride!
Medical Equipment Holders: Oxygen tanks, walkers, and canes are just a few things you may also need to carry with you while riding your mobility scooter. These items can be clunky, heavy, and inconvenient. We carry customized holders to secure such items to your scooter's body so you don't have to worry about driving and holding on to your necessities at the same time.
Mobile Chargers: A dead battery translates to a short trip and a big inconvenience while you're out and about on your scooter. While we always recommend that you charge your scooter's battery fully before extended use, the fact of the matter is that you may not always remember to do so. Mobile chargers plug into any 12-volt charge socket on a vehicle (what we sometimes refer to as the car's cigarette lighter), so you aren't dependent on finding a standard power outlet if you need a boost.
Trays: Meals, crosswords, newspapers and magazines, painting, writing - there are many activities in which you may wish to engage while you are on your mobility scooter that require a firm stable surface. With our arm-mounted folding trays, there are no longer limits on these activities while you are out for a ride! We carry both stylish wood finish trays and sturdy polycarbonate trays, so you can pick the look and functionality that works best for your needs!
