Choosing Between Manual, Power or Recliner Wheelchairs for Your Comfort

Wheelchairs offer support to the disabled persons and provide them the freedom to move. The disability may be due to an accident, major injury, paralysis attack etc. A wheelchair offers freedom to move around, like shopping or travelling from one place to other.

There are a number of battery operated wheelchairs which are much a better option than the conventional wheelchairs. You may find different types of power wheelchair like energy powerchair, mambo standard powerchair, mambo 363 powerchair, mambo micro powerchair and mambo mini powerchair, which requires very little physical energy to operate. If you were purchasing a wheelchair for the first time, it would be a better option to work with an occupational therapist that has the understanding with various kinds of wheelchairs.

Below mentioned are the different types of wheelchairs:

1. Manual Wheelchairs

The person with upper body has strength should use the manual wheelchair which can propel with their arms on the rims of the wheels. They may come in different colours and sizes, and are just half in weight and designed for much superior performance. They are lightweight vehicles, with either a rigid frame or a folding frame, which is easier to transfer in and out of cars.

2. Power Wheelchairs

There are some persons who cannot push a wheelchair because they don't have enough arm strength to push it. Such persons need a battery operated power wheelchair. The traditional wheelchair has some standard looks but power wheelchairs are more stylish and come in many styles.

3. Tilt or Recliner Wheelchairs

Individuals who want to reduce the risk of skin sores use special wheelchair. These chairs have great comfort. A special wheelchair, 'tilt in space wheelchair' is sometimes used by individuals, which is a recliner chair system that basically changes the seat to back angles, flattening out the back and in some cases raising the legs to form a flat surface.

Both tilt and recline must be fitted and prescribed by seating and positioning experts only.

You may find a number of wheelchairs, which will give you comfort and convenience to move freely without any help.
